Warehouse Assistant
Role Description
Location: Cape Town, South Africa
Full-time and Office based
Reporting Line: Warehouse Manager
Job Purpose
The successful Warehouse Assistant will manage the flow of products and stock within the warehouse, including receiving and assisting with the dispatch of goods. To excel in this role, the candidate should be physically fit, possess strong time management and communication skills, and demonstrate meticulous attention to detail. Being organized, trustworthy, and dedicated are also essential traits for success in this position.
Recruitment Specialist
- Complete activities including picking, scanning, invoicing, boxing, barcoding, shelving, dispatching of orders, merchandising, and stock control
- Ensure a high standard of accuracy and neatness when performing all duties and activities
- Allocate orders accurately to the relevant department based on the shipping method
- Perform regular stock-takes to maintain inventory accuracy
- Ensure a high level of health and safety within the warehouse
- Assist with additional warehouse or logistics activities as requested by the Warehouse Manager
Experience and Knowledge:
- A minimum of one (1) year of work experience within a warehouse environment is preferred
- Previous logistics/warehouse work experience within an IT distribution environment will be an advantage
Skills and Education:
- Obtain a Matric with mathematics (essential)
- Possess a tertiary qualification and/or diploma in logistics (advantageous)
- Demonstrate intermediate computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Perform basic calculations with ease and accuracy (ability to work with numbers)
- Showcase good administration skills and attention to detail
- Apply customer service training or skills to manage difficult customers effectively
- Utilize strong written and verbal business communication skills
- Complete tasks with a strong focus on following through to completion
- Maintain a service quality-oriented approach in all activities
- Stay motivated with a high level of energy and self-confidence
- Focus on customers and consistently deliver above-average customer service
- Show interest in technology and stay updated on industry trends
- Work independently and make sound decisions when needed
