Product Manager: Enterprise Software

Role Description

Location: Midrand, Gauteng, South Africa

Full-time and Office based

Reporting Line: Business Unit Manager 

Job Purpose

This product expert will play a crucial role in managing the Enterprise Software product portfolio, product
strategies, and administration in order to provide exceptional customer service and in order to support
various business development activities in pursuit of revenue and profit objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand and develop product strategies within the portfolio
  • Understand and implement Pinnacle strategy and policies in alignment with product
  • Analyse market segments and develop marketing strategies to build product demand by creating effective solutions and awareness of the product and brand
  • Execute strategic ordering of products
  • Identify and execute activities to achieve monthly sales targets
  • Liaise with vendors and industry to understand product and market trends and amend plans accordingly to ensure efficient product life cycle management and maximize opportunities
  • Clearly communicate product, market strategy, objectives, and technical services to partners
  • Manage relationships and align with vendors
  • Manage relationships and align with partners
  • Act as the custodian for the vendor relationship at the partner
  • Ensure that stakeholders at the vendor interface with stakeholders at the partner at all levels
  • Escalate of partner operational issues at vendor and focus on resolution
  • Alignment of vendor resources to partner
  • Maintain and grow the existing product partner base
  • Responsible for account planning and customer mapping with each partner
  • Liaise and engage with partners regularly to grow their share of the wallet
  • Present product/brand presentations to customers and partners
  • Drive Pinnacle product focus within each respective partner
  • Collaborate with the partner to generate leads and manage the sales process
  • Review and give input into quarterly planning
  • Manage the vendor sales process
  • Present status of the development plan back to the vendor
  • Responsible for fast and accurate quoting on all Software costings/quotes to partners
  • Ensure operational excellence of vendor within the partner
  • Ensure orders are placed on vendor timeously
  • Ensure all other SLAs are met timeously
  • Provide product support including: PDF Spec Sheets, Web Info, Sales Support, Customer Support-Systems Integrators
  • Responsible for compiling and maintaining product pricing information/communication
  • Collaborating with the partner to drive marketing initiatives – adhering to alignment with brands/vendors i.e.:
    o Marketing events
    o Tele-campaigns
    o Internal incentives
    o Promotion of vendor events
    o Driving vendor GTMs with the partner and ensuring focus on the GTMs
  • Deal registration, partner discount, and margin management
  • Enlist vendor support to drive opportunities to closure
  • Provide marketing plans and GTM plans at the partner level
  • Assist the team with other related functions when and where required
  • Submit Weekly/Monthly/quarterly reports and target tracking information as required by management, vendors, and analysts
  • Manage the profitability of products
    o Assist the sales team with quotations
    o Understand each software vendor’s rebates and compensation programs
    o Provide sales support to sales staff
  • Training
    o Manage minimum certification level of partners
    o Facilitate and or co-ordinate training regarding vendor sales tools
    o Facilitate and or co-ordinate training regarding vendor processes and systems
    o Stay up to date with the vendor’s product offering and new product releases
    o Stay constantly updated with all developments and trends in the market
    o Understand technology roadmaps
  • Logistical
    o Maintain the ERP system up to date with product codes and pricing agreements
    o Attend weekly tender meetings and assist in providing solutions for the partners
    o Manage stock efficiently - Drive active and aging stock where applicable
    o Responsible for order managing process to maintain service and stock levels
  • Build and maintain internal and external relationships
    o Liaise with suppliers for promotional funds and materials

Requirements

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Minimum 5 years work experience within an IT environment
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Enterprise Software tools
  • Appropriate accreditation/certification in one or more Enterprise Software technologies
  • Previous experience within the ICT Distribution industry will be an advantage
  • Working experience in a customer service environment
  • Understanding of Forex conversions/calculations
  • Understanding of Software and Cloud value propositions
  • Working experience within a sales environment
  • Experience managing stakeholder relationships

 

Skills and Education:

  • Matric, with mathematics is essential
  • A tertiary qualification and/or a relevant diploma in Business and/or in IT will be an advantage
  • Good skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written business communication skills
  • Good sales presentation skills
  • Organized individual who is deadline-driven with good time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent administration skills with an attention to detail
