Reporting Line: Sales Manager: Retail
Job Purpose
The External Account Manager plays a crucial role in driving revenue and business growth within the Retail
Sales department. This position focuses on expanding the customer base, fostering strong relationships,
and consistently exceeding customer expectations. The primary mission of the External Account Manager
is to build and sustain long-term partnerships, generate revenue growth, and contribute to the overall
success of the company.
Recruitment Specialist
- Achieve monthly sales targets
- Attain Quarter-on-Quarter and Year-on-Year growth
- Establish and grow a new client base within Retail clients
- Maintain new and existing client relationships through regular visits and interactions
- Develop sales plans for each account
- Manage the sales process
- Maintain the current client database and forecasts
- Create a sales plan for each account
- Deliver product presentations and entertain clients
- Generate sales leads and follow up on deals in the pipeline
- Identify sales opportunities and develop go-to-market strategies
- Compile all quotations
- Follow up on quotes and convert them into orders
- Attend product training and events
- Process and administer relevant sales documentation
- Update backorders and orders received daily
Experience and Knowledge:
- At least three (3) years of experience in Distribution
- A minimum of 3 years of account management experience with commercial clients
- Previous sales experience in the ICT Distribution industry is advantageous
- Proven track record of achieving sales success, preferably within the ICT Distribution industry
- Experience in selling to and working with customers at all organizational levels, including highprofile clients
- Expertise in identifying sales opportunities and developing tailored solutions
- Hands-on experience in a retail environment
- Demonstrated ability to develop sales plans and close deals
Skills and Education:
- Matric, preferably with Mathematics
- A tertiary qualification and/or relevant diploma in Sales, Marketing, or IT is advantageous
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Proven sales ability and skills
- Excellent verbal and written business communication skills
- Established network within various levels of Commercial clients
- Strong sales presentation skills
- Ability to perform basic calculations and work with numbers
- Highly organized, deadline-driven, with effective time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Well-developed negotiation skills
- Able to work effectively in a high-pressure environment, consistently chasing and meeting targets
