Business Development Manager: Lenovo Consumer and Commercial 

Role Description

Location: Midrand, South Africa

Full-time and Office based

Reporting Line: Business Unit Manager: Lenovo

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving business growth, identifying and pursuing new
business opportunities, developing and executing sales strategies and building relationships with customers and vendors.
Additional responsibilities include creating development plans and forecasting sales targets and growth
projections. Identifying market opportunities through meetings, networking and other channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Strategy Development and Execution
    o Increase customer coverage/count for vendor and Pinnacle
    o Increase vendor product coverage for vendor
    o Increase geographic coverage for vendor
  • Business Strategy Development and Execution
    o Achieving monthly targets and goals
  • Relationship Development
    o Develop relationships with both the defined set of Lenovo Partners and selected resellers across all market segments and channels.
    o Grow share of wallet of Lenovo branded products across Pinnacle’s customer base with special focus on storage.
    o Identify and develop new revenue streams for emerging Lenovo into these accounts.
  • Sales and Forecasting
    o Provide weekly sales forecast to management.
  • o Provide input to product team regarding stock holding.
    o Work with reseller partners to devise Lenovo growth strategies and implement these strategies.
  • Marketing and Strategy
    o Help with marketing strategies and assist with the sales process.
    o Identify and help implement market strategies.
    o Disseminate product information to sales and customers (including training schedule).
    o Position vendor product set as part of product dissemination.
  • Market and Product Knowledge
    o Track and share market knowledge on competitive brands.
    o Keep abreast of latest technology and relevance to Lenovo Brand.
    o Have knowledge of roadmaps and product life cycles.
  • Customer and Partner Engagement
    o Engage with customers and partners to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
    o Conduct regular business reviews with key partners to ensure alignment and growth
  • Reporting and Analysis
    o Perform detailed sales analysis and reporting to identify trends and opportunities.
    o Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to drive business
    decisions
  • Training and Development
    o Develop and deliver training programs for partners and internal teams on Lenovo products and solutions.
    o Ensure continuous learning and development to stay updated with industry trends and Lenovo offerings.
  • Operational Efficiency
    o Collaborate with internal teams to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
    o Ensure timely and accurate order processing and delivery.
  • Compliance and Ethics
    o Ensure all business activities comply with company policies and ethical standards.
    o Maintain a high level of integrity and professionalism in all interactions.

Requirements

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Minimum 3 years’ IT related experience
  • Minimum 5 years Sales experience
  • Distribution experience is advantageous
  • Previous experience in an External Sales or Business Development is essential
  • Working experience in a customer service environment

 

Skills and Education:

  • Matric with mathematics is essential
  • A tertiary degree/diploma is essential, a Sales & Marketing or IT qualification will be
    advantageous
  • Solid negotiation skills
  • Strong understanding of the IT distribution industry and market trends
  • Knowledge and understanding of the ICT market will be advantageous
  • Excellent computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in Excel Formulation, Pivots and Data Analytical functions
  • Be able to work in a pressured environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Good administration skills
  • Attention to detail i.e. meticulous
  • High level of customer service
  • Intermediate understanding of Finance
  • Proven ability to meet targets and close deals
